How to calculate the number of panels for

Wall(s) without openings

We will help you calculate the number of panels needed for your wallpaper or mural project, with panels of the same height. This calculation is perfect for walls without openings.

Step 1

Choose your paper type

Pre-pasted or self-adhesive. Depending on the type of paper you choose, it will impact your panel count calculation.

To make the right choice for your paper type, you can refer to our page Pre-pasted or self-adhesive.

Step 2

Take the measurements

Measure the wall(s) where you want to apply your wallpaper, making sure to note the width and height in inches.

Good to know: If you are covering multiple walls, note that the panels continue seamlessly from one wall to another. The wallpaper will easily follow the corner without interrupting the pattern.

Step 3

Determine the height

Since the walls of a house are never perfectly straight, it is essential to allow for a margin of at least 4 inches in height for optimal installation.

Therefore, if you have ceilings of 96 inches, you can use panels of that height only if you have moldings of at least 4 inches at the bottom of the wall.

And if you want to apply wallpaper to a half-wall with a surface to cover that is 48 inches high, it is important to choose a 60-inch panel to allow for the minimum 4-inch margin.

We offer 8 different heights: 30, 48, 60, 72, 92, 108, 120, and 132 inches.

Step 4

Calculate the number of panels

To determine the number of panels needed, simply divide the total width by 24.5 for pre-pasted paper or 24 for self-adhesive paper.

The pre-pasted paper has an initial width of 24 inches, but it slightly stretches once wet, ultimately covering 24.5 inches.

For example, for a wall that is 122 inches wide:

  • With pre-pasted paper: 122 ÷ 24.5 = 4.97, which means 5 panels are required.
  • With self-adhesive paper: 122 ÷ 24 = 5.08, which means 6 panels are required.

Attention!!!
We do not recommend purchasing longer panels with the intention of cutting them into several sections to install them side by side. This could compromise the continuity of the pattern from one panel to the next.

Step 5

Order online

Go to the page of the chosen design, then select the paper type, panel size, and desired quantity. Then, simply click on Add to Cart.

Next, check your cart to proceed to the next payment steps.
