Out with the old and in with the new

The new year usually comes with big changes. Are you the type of person to make new year’s resolutions? For us, it’s a great time to reevaluate what we want, what our goals are, and what needs to be updated. This is also the time where we sit as a team and have big discussions about the upcoming trends and about how patterns, colours and home decor have evolved over the years.

Home decor has never been so important, now that working from home is the new normal it is important to feel good in the spaces you spent the most time. You want to be able to sit and unwind.

Well let us help you, we've come up with the four biggest 2022 trends!

Pattern-heavy elements

Patterns are not new, 2021 was full of them! So why is it a 2022 trend ? Well, this year we think there is going to be even more of them, large and small-scale patterns. The trend can be seen everywhere from wallpaper to bedding to window treatments!

Are you scared of patterns? We know they may seem like a big commitment and a major change from plain cream-white walls, but using patterns doesn’t mean you have to cover a wall from floor to ceiling, you can ease into it with a rug or artwork! You can try different ones, mix and match and find the perfect one for you

Romantic materials & textures

This trend is what will make you feel right at home!

This year, we anticipate incorporating more romantic and playful elements into our spaces like reeded, scalloped, ribbed, and lace materials. These elements will add a sense of warmth and nostalgia to any home. Furthermore, these materials and textures will provide depth, as well as dimension, to the simplest color palette. Perfect for enriching your home decor.

Exaggerated proportions

Looking for a way to spice up your home design? Get ready to play around with proportions. We can expect even more exaggerated proportions in everything from light fixtures to vases and artwork. These balances and harmony will create a unique atmosphere in your home. You can use a variety of methods to exaggerate proportions, such as magnifying or reducing, overemphasizing or minimizing, or giving more prominence to certain decor pieces. The possibilities are endless so have fun with it !

Softened kitchen furnishings

The kitchen is where the heart is, it’s where you gather your loved ones to have beautiful meals, endless laughs and make lasting memories. Why not add a little life to it. Having only kitchen appliances like a nice microwave or toaster is boring and cold people are realizing that. In 2022 you will see a lot more furniture-like builds in the kitchen and living-space-like decor. You can create a warm ambience in your kitchen by adding artwork, lamps, long curtains that soften the hard lines of the cabinetry and appliances

What is fun about home decor is that you can express yourself in whatever way you want. You don’t have to go over the top (you sure can) if that’s not your style, you can add little things here and there that will make a different room stand out. The perfect decor doesn't happen overnight; you need to find inspiration, find the things you love, and make your home feel like your own. A home is a place that grows with you and your loved ones over time. What seemed like a good idea last year might be something you laugh at today… So have fun with it, don't be afraid to try new things.
